Nail Surprise and 120 Pro Palette

I may be loving the softer make up looks at the moment but this Hot Pink colour is what I'm sporting on my nails. It's a Rimmel shade I got ages ago but never really used. It's part of their 60 seconds quick dry range in 'Funtime Fuchsia'. I've been on their website and couldn't see the colour (perhaps it was a limited edition?). Any way its a nice surprise as I tend not to stray far from Barry M nail paints, especially when it comes to bright colours. I find no other brand last as well, chip free, on my nails. Any way I'm loving this.
Make up wise, today I pulled out my 120 Pro Palette. I got it as a birthday gift a while back and have barely touched it. I've used the whites as highlights now and then but found that the quality of the other colours were just to much hassle. I'm not keen on the colour pay off, find it creases too easily, sits in lines and they crumble and fall out all over the place. However I thought I would give it another go. But no, my opinion has not changed. Todays shadow, an orangey brown look for Autumn, seemed to effect my eyes for a bit straight after I applied it. Really itchy, made me want to wipe it all off. I mean I know it's a lot of colours for a small price but it's the old 'pay for what you get rule' it would seem. I know others out there love it but it aint for me.

Back to Basics

After going through a phase of colourful and bright eye make up I find myself heading back to basics at the moment, and quite liking it. I'm feeling as pale as pale could be right now so having using warm browns makes me feel like I have more colour in my face. Fake colour at least! x

Change is as good as a rest

I got a little bored with my hair the other day and thought I would try colouring it. I want to keep growing it so cutting has limited options. It's not a full on dye just a semi permanent but boy is it not the colour I thought it would be. A tad darker and far more red than expected. I don't hate it or anything and it will eventually wash out I just didn't want to go so far from my natural hair colour. After years of constantly dying it every colour from Blonde to Black I was actually embracing the colour it was. Any way here's what it looks like. Oh and my God is it hard to take a photo of your hair that doesn't just look like you are drunk and aimed the camera the wrong way. When the light hits it it look mega red.

Oh and also I have returned to my love of a french manicure. I used to do them all the time but haven't in ages.

Experiment - Fuller Lip

I thought I would try out a little experiment today, using the common tricks you come across for getting a fuller lip. I took a photo with just the lipstick straight on, used plainly I suppose. Then wiped it off and tried some fuller lips techniques. A highlighter across the cupids bow, liner on the outer corners and a medium brown shadow blended along the centre of the bottom lip line. Took some more photos so I could compare them side by side. I'm pleasantly surprised. The lipstick colour does look so different as well. Think I might try this with a deep colour soon just to get an idea of how much these tricks work.

So before -

After -

And 2 more before and after -

I'm not a big lover of silver. It just never seems to look right on me somehow. However lately I've taken to a gunmetal silver look. I'm a fan of a dark eye so this colour is right up my street.

Wipe it all off....

I love my make up, love it so much that there is hardly a day that I go without. Taking it off on the other hand is not as much fun. Especially with waterproof mascara. I tend to get watery eyes when it's windy, and it's always windy here, so waterproof mascara is a must for me.

I have found two things that actually get rid of this stuff with little fuss and thankfully little cost.

Firstly, Cherish face wipes. They are for mature skin and that is probably why they are so packed full of goodies that seem to take all the make up off. Other face wipes just feel so dry compared to these. Plus they are super cheap. Just 99p at Semi-Chem in the UK.

Secondly there is the great Oil and Rosewater mix that Oxford Jasmine has suggested on her YT channel. Brilliant stuff. I tend to try and use this most days as it really gets rid of every last bit of MU. However when it's late at night and you really can't be bothered the wipes are super handy.

I went for a full on teal look today. I very much like the colour although I wish I had used a different base. I used a MAC shadestick in sharkskin over the lid but even after just a few minutes I can see it's already going to crack and crease. I know it's popular as a dark base but I'm not too keen.

Nail fun

I had a little spare time this morning, lazy Sunday, so I thought I would try out something a bit silly. I had seen a few tutorials online for paw print designs and thought I would give it a go for a bit of fun. Went for a dark grey and white look. ;)
